A long rectangle of lawn with a falling down fence and a patio too small for purpose. The environmentally conscious owners wanted to recycle several 'found' items including water tanks, an old chimney pot and some large rounded stones. The brief: To turn a very dull back garden into a safe and fun space for their 4 year old son to play in. We turned the old water tanks into a pond with a seat. Planted into the chimney stack and created a gravel garden for the back third of the garden using the large stones as accents to the planting and staggered sleepers. We also added in a swing for when tired little feet needed a break from exploring.
"We are so pleased with the transformation of our garden. Rachel had a real knack for turning vague ideas from us into a final design that exactly met what we were after. Although we only have a modestly sized rectangular garden in a row of terraces, she was really able to make the most of it with different planting areas and structural elements. Her passion and knowledge about planting and garden design was clear from the outset, resulting in a garden which we will enjoy using for years and years to come. We were also grateful for her help and oversight while the work was ongoing, without which the process would undoubtedly have been a lot more stressful for us." - Rhys Barnett"
